Severe Thunderstorm Update



At 5:37 p.m., radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms from 27 miles west of Paducah to near Elizabethtown, Illinois. This line is moving southeast at 40 mph.

This line has a history of wind damage in southern Illinois and radar indicates areas of winds exceeding 70 mph with this line. The storms will be near

Paducah around 6 p.m.
Benton and Mayfield around 6:30 p.m.
Murray and Cadiz around 6:45 p.m.

In addition to the threat of damaging winds, large hail may briefly occur with this storm, and the line will be capable of brief damaging downburst winds up to 75 mph in isolated locations along the line. Very brief tornadoes may also be possible as the line moves through western Kentucky.
