Rain Looks To Pick Up This Week

Well Tropical Cyclones Ana and Bill are behaving similarly to what was forecast on the blog here last night. Ana has degenerated to the point that I think it may be declassified sometime Monday, and may have already lost tropical characteristics. Bill is slowly strengthening and looks more likely to recurve as a hurricane north of Puerto Rico in 4-6 days.

There was one fly in the ointment. Tropical Storm Claudette formed early this morning just off the Florida panhandle and is just offshore of Destin Florida as of this writing. The storm is forecast to move northward over the next few days and move into the Tennessee Valley Tuesday.

This is a rather weak storm and I generally don't expect we will get a big 2 day long soaking rain from it, but I do think we will start to see slightly increased rain/thunderstorm chances late tomorrow and especially Tuesday afternoon as the system moves in. For now it looks like the storm will move in and weaken, but generally increase our low level moisture along and just south of a boundary over Missouri/Illinois/Indiana and we may see a period of enhanced showers and thunderstorms for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. I don't expect a washout really for either day, but there could be pretty solid coverage, with Thursday looking to be the wettest for now.
